Israeli army says 4 killed, 1 injured in suspected Palestinian stabbing at Tel Aviv gas plant

4 Israeli soldiers and an American civilian were killed and one seriously wounded in a suspected stabbing attack in a gas facility in the occupied West Bank on Friday.

The army said four soldiers were killed when a Palestinian assailant opened fire at the site.

No Israeli troops were injured.

A witness said the assailant was wearing a suicide vest.

The IDF did not immediately provide details about the identity of the attacker.

Security officials told the Maariv daily newspaper that the attacker was a man with a beard, but did not give his age.

No other details were immediately available.

An AFP reporter at the scene, who did not wish to be identified, said that a woman was in a critical condition, and two of the injured were in a serious condition.

In 2014, a Palestinian man stabbed four Israeli soldiers in a Tel Aviv neighborhood.

He was shot dead by security forces.

Palestinians say Israeli soldiers are shooting at them from behind their back in a widening wave of attacks.

Israel’s Defense Ministry said the shooting appeared to be a random attack and the Palestinian attacker was shot by the soldiers and was arrested.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israeli troops would be ready to defend themselves against any Palestinian who tried to carry out an attack on Israelis.

“The soldiers will defend themselves.

The Israeli soldiers will be prepared to protect themselves,” he said.
