Elmiira Correctional Facility to open in August 2018
The Elmiara Correctional Facility in Michigan will open in the summer of 2018, the state Department of Corrections said on Tuesday.
The facility is located in the city of Elmsford, about 40 miles east of Detroit.
The facility’s main goal is to help inmates with their substance abuse problems, which include the use of illegal drugs and other substances, according to the state.
The Elmiaras facilities, which are located in four counties, are used to house inmates in special housing units for women who have become pregnant.
They are also used for people with mental health conditions.
Elmiaria Correctional Facility currently houses about 100 inmates, most of whom are serving time for other criminal offenses.
The Department of Correction said the Elmiarlas facility will open the first of four new residential treatment facilities, known as “parks” or “parasites” for the inmates.
The new facilities will be part of a broader $1.2 billion capital plan approved by Gov.
Rick Snyder and signed into law by his successor.
The first two of the four new facilities are scheduled to open this year, and the final facility is slated to open by the end of 2018.
