Man pleads guilty to murdering wife in Mexico

The man who was arrested and charged with murdering his wife in March 2016 in Mexico is pleading guilty to a charge of kidnapping.

In a pretrial hearing on Tuesday, Sergio Serna was sentenced to three years in prison for his role in the murder of Josemaría Flores.

Flores, 40, was found stabbed to death in her car in Mexico City’s Plaza del Mar on March 16, 2016.

Her body was found a week later, with a severed head and several other stab wounds, according to a statement by the prosecutor’s office in Mexico.

Serna pleaded guilty in September to kidnapping and criminal homicide.

He was released from custody in September after serving four months behind bars.

Sanchez, a 33-year-old who is also accused of killing another woman in February, is also scheduled to be sentenced next week.
