The next step for patients after cardiac arrest
AUSTIN, Texas — The next step after cardiac arrests has not yet been identified in a Texas hospital.
But the patient’s life has been saved.
The heart-attack patient was transferred to the Texas Medical Center in Plano, about 40 miles north of Dallas.
A hospital spokeswoman confirmed that the patient was admitted late Monday to a non-critical condition.
We don’t know yet if that was the cause of her death.
She had been hospitalized since Sept. 3 and had been on ventilator support since March 11.
Her condition deteriorated quickly.
She was transferred Tuesday to the University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital, about 80 miles east of Austin, said a spokeswoman.
Doctors and nurses in Planon have been able to treat her with an antibiotic and keep her on a ventilators, the spokeswoman said.
This is an evolving situation, but we don’t anticipate there will be another patient discharged this week,” the hospital said in a statement.
If the patient is released, her condition is not expected to improve.
